"Golden Helmets" for Audi and Dindo Capello

Le Mans:
Dindo Capello was presented with the "Golden Helmet" for the third time after 2003 and 2006. The award given by the Italian specialist magazine "Autosprint" is regarded as the "Motorsport Oscar" in Italy. Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich also received one of the coveted "Golden Helmet" awards. "Autosprint" honoured the latest triumph of the Audi R10 TDI in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Second place for "Team Scandinavia"

DTM/Le Mans:
At the "Race of Champions" held in London’s Wembley Stadium Mattias Ekström and Tom Kristensen took second place for "Team Scandinavia". In the final of the Nations Cup the two Audi factory drivers were beaten 1:2 by the German team of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. In the subsequent individual classification Ekström, who had more recently won the "Race of Champions" twice in succession, reached the quarter final. Kristensen was beaten by a mere two-tenths of a second in the last sixteen by Michael Schumacher.

Another record for Tom Kristensen

Le Mans:
The eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen has set another record: He was voted the "Racing Driver of the Year" for the sixth time by the Danish Automobile Sport Union (DASU). Prince Joachim of Denmark presented the trophy.

Two awards for Allan McNish

LMS/Le Mans:
Audi factory driver Allan McNish was presented with two awards within only 24 hours: The readers of the specialist magazine "Autosport" nominated the Scotsman as "British Competition Driver of the Year". Only one day later he received the ACO Plate from the British Racing Driver Club (BRDC) for the best placed British driver at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
