Aurora Racing Team wants to win at Jarama

In the next weekend, Aurora Racing Team will take part in the second round of the Spanish GT Championship and, after the Valencia’s bad luck, intends to climb-up to the top-step at Jarama.

The young squad from Algarve was very near of getting a win in its debut weekend, but some technical difficulties in the number one Ferrari and an anxious fireman – who unloaded a fire extinguisher on the number six car – prevented it from celebrate the success at the first attempt. Nevertheless, it was clear that the men lead by Marcel Sanders and Fernando Moreira will be strong contenders through the season.

For the Jarama weekend the Aurora Group team will race with only one car, because the Ferrari 430 GT used by Alvaro Parente and Isaac Tutumlu at Valencia is at the RCA– the structure that technically supports Aurora Racing Team – base. “The second car wont’ race at Jarama, because we are making a profound revision in it and it isn’t ready for the next race weekend. At Estoril it will be on track again”, assured Ferando Moreira who wants to see the Portuguese team fighting for the top positions at Jarama: “We will keep the drivers of the number one car – Peter Sundberg and Juan Manuel Lopez. We consider that they can fight for good results in both races. At Valencia we were a unlucky, but I think that, at Jarama, we can fight for the wins and achieve good results”.

Peter Sundberg agrees with the Aurora Racing Team team boss, and wants to be at the top step of the podium. Though, he knows that it will be vital to achieve a good set-up for the Ferrari 430 GT as soon as possible. “Our goal for Jarama is to try to win the two races. At Valencia we had a bad weekend, but I think that, now, we can be competitive and we can fight for the first place. Juan Manuel Lopez knows the car better, and that will be good for us, besides, I like this circuit. However, without tests, it will be important to find a good set-up at the practices”, said the Spanish GT Championship Champion.

After a good GT debut at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Juan Manuel Lopez shows some confidence for the next round, and thinks that, with Peter Sundberg, he can battle for the top places. I expect that we may do better than at Valencia. I know that Jarama is a new circuit for me also, but at least, now, I know the car better, I know the team, how they work and how is GT racing. We need to be in the podium in both races, if we want to fight for the championship, so we must try to do that and to try to win a race”, underlined the Argentinean driver, who has an Italian Formula 3 Championship win in his curriculum.
